what happens after the course_2.jpg

Unlike other courses, ours doesn't finish on the final day...

We won't hand you a certificate and wave you goodbye. We want you to find a job, and we do our best to make this happen.

  • We offer ongoing expert career support.

We're always available for career advice. We help you update your CV and make sure you are prepared for interview. You can even phone us years later. We are still in touch with many people who took the course over 20 years ago. Sometimes they too want career advice. Sometimes their magazine has a vacancy and they let us know about it first.

  • You can use all our centre facilities.

Our media centre is open for you to use the reference books, computers, design and editing software, photocopying and the internet for weeks after the course, while you're looking for a job.

  • We tell you about vacancies.

At least 75 per cent of the jobs that our graduates find are never advertised. You have to know who is looking for staff. We hear of these jobs because PMA's day-to-day work is training magazine and online journalists at all levels, right up to publishers and editors. We'll put in a good word for you. We also advertise your skills on our email newsletter, which goes to thousands of senior-level media employers.

  • We supply references

Editors ask us about our postgrad talent, and they trust our editorial judgement because we are editors too. This is a much more relevant reference for a journalism job than a letter from your university tutor or personal friend.
